A new spin on Christmas greetings

Here’s one I’ve never heard before. This evening on Bill O’Reilly’s Fox News show a guest from an association devoted to secularism complained that the Christmas wars were really started by…the people complaining about the Christmas wars. Like O’Reilly, she said.

File that under “the best defense is a good offense.”

So the “no spin zone” had this odd exchange about stores ordering employees not to say “Merry Christmas” but only “Happy Holidays”, at most, and the origins and ramifications of the battle in the public forum. Then this woman says she believes there’s a backlash of traditional believers out there who are going so far now as to greet people with a sort of threatening holiday wish. “Merry Christmas…or else!” was how she put it.

Merry Christmas, or else?!

Fortunately, absurdity speaks for itself.
