At the end of the day…
….we remain the United States of America.
This has been a long and turbulent process. We’ve been engaged in a prolonged version of something like the Thanksgiving family debate (sometimes argument) around the table. It is the contentious but great engagement of ideas, of a representative republic expressing itself over how best to govern itself.
We’re all “Values Voters”. All issues are moral issues. The outcome of this election will determine who’s values will prevail in directing the nation for years to come. Citizens on both sides of the political spectrum are very worried about what that future holds if the ‘other’ party prevails.
Be of strong heart, which is inherent in our American character. Be hopeful.
And defiantly optimistic.

In the end, Sheila, because we each have to recognize our own limitations, my prayer last night was that the Holy Spirit would descend upon each voter and touch their hearts, minds and souls so that they would vote in accordance with God’s will (not necessarily my will…)
Let’s hope that’s what happened and let’s pray for whoever wins the election. Whoever it is, will need all of our prayers.
