Credit where it’s due

The media usually deserve the scorn they get. But they are at their best in times of tragedy, natural disaster, calamity and humanitarian crises. And they have been mostly outstanding in the Haitian crisis.

It seems like every day different broadcast teams have delivered exceptional reports of new and different and deeper angles that involve the viewer in the on-the-ground experiences in Haiti.

As the guys at CMR discovered, CNN’s Anderson Cooper got involved himself on the ground, in more than reporting.

“I write enough about times when the media comes up short, here Cooper drops the whole objective observer role and helps out a young man in trouble. Good for him.”

Well done, Anderson. Good for you to seize the moment of awareness that what to do about human relief was much more pressing than what to say about it.
