That was a saying Tom Daschle, former nominee for HHS secretary, used a lot referring to why health care reform legislation had not been successful in years past.
It comes to mind again, as the Senate is about to pass a bill that, with semantic sleight of hand, doesn’t overtly promise to cover abortion, or threaten rationing for the most vulnerable, but would lead to both.
Unwind some of the semantics of, say, the abortion debate. For starters, how is abortion considered to be health care? What does abortion heal?
