For the record
Senator Barack Obama has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame, and he’s one of the hottest names now in political discussion about the ’08 presidential election. He is a much loved man/politician/member of government and a candidate the Democratic party finds extremely attractive for future high office. When you see and hear him, generally, you see a lot of the good. For many people, there’s no downside to Obama. And I can see why, generally.
But there’s a vital downside.
When I did the earlier post below, I felt the need to address this. Pro-Life Wisconsin, among others, issued a press release in time to make the point.
All else aside — and there’s plenty there to get back to in the near-term future — be clear that Sen. Barack Obama supports abortion. He may say that he does not like it, but he defends and supports it as law. There’s a lot of ‘ink being spilt’ (or keyboards being pounded) on Obama getting comfortable in Christian evangelical circles with matters of faith and humanitarian principles. But the fundamental right to life is the first among all other rights, and the lights that guide Obama are leading him down the path of moral equivalency.
Sen. Sam Brownback, on the other hand, actively defends the sanctity of all human life as the first order of business to address and secure. It is speculation that Obama will be running for president in ’08. It is now a fact that Brownback is starting an exploratory committee to line up his own candidacy. That mirrors the clarity of Brownback’s certainty on the ultimate human right. For Obama, it’s still relative.
