Hawks win game one. Nice.
This is a welcome diversion. It rises to the level of more than a mention on Facebook. Chicago’s Hawks have won round one against the San Jose Sharks in their quest for the Stanley Cup. Won it in the Shark Tank, with masterful play all around.
Or as the SFGate put it, ‘When very good isn’t good enough’. Says a lot.
At first glance, even a Sharks fan would take seven games like this – two superb teams at the top of their respective games, the goaltenders at Defcon 4, every moment pivotal, every decision huge.
Then again, there’s always reason to carp when you end up with one and the other guy with two, and the San Joses, having played near the top of their game, still find themselves down to the Chicago Blackhawks in the Western Conference finals.
One game down. But still after one, final goal.
Know this, though. This will be a great series, no matter how long it lasts. Game 1 was a bummer for San Jose, but it was also a hint of what is to come.
Teamwork, outstanding athletes working together with passion, consistent personal and team excellence….a welcome relief from our real problems. This is great.
