Preparing for Veteran’s Day

Let’s remind our fellow Americans that this Saturday is Veteran’s Day, and let’s all honor our Vets with the recognition they deserve.

Over at Power Line, the guys are running links and throwing in their efforts to a very noble cause — helping those who serve, who because of that service are in need.

Here’s the post from election day:

Exercising my right to vote this morning, I thought about the ladies and gentlemen of the United States armed forces who make it all possible. I ask you to consider helping put us over the top in our goal of raising $180,000 by Veterans’ Day for Valour-IT. It provides voice-activated laptops to assist injured soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines with face and hand injuries so that they can stay connected with the world during recovery. Project Valour-IT began when Captain Charles “Chuck” Ziegenfuss was wounded by an IED while serving as commander of a tank company in Iraq in June 2005 and searched for a way to return to his blog while recovering. So far, the project has delivered 650 computers to soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines in Bethesda, Walter Reed, Balboa, and several other military hospitals, and there is demand for many more.

The fundraising is proceeding by a competition among Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force bloggers, with each team trying to raise $45,000. The Navy team is behind and we have signed on to help it out. The aggressive fundraising goal cannot be met without your support. Please consider giving — just click the “Make a Donation” button above (on the blog) between now and Veterans’ Day. Contributions can also be sent by check to:

The election process we have just gone through this week, and even the free speech right to criticize the president and condemn the war in Iraq or anywhere else, is all a result of our veterans and the service they gave to defend those rights and freedoms.

Thank you, to all who serve or ever have, and to your families.
