Question: Why doesn’t the Church ordain women?

Most people can’t readily answer that, sad to say, without fumbling over the common response of ‘that’s just the way it’s always been’ or something similar. Nor do dissenters from Church teaching usually know the teaching they rail against.

Those of us involved with the celebration of Dignity of Women have had our inboxes peppered with emails from a particuarly persistent activist named Luis who insists the upcoming World Congress on Women in Rome will be….what did he call it?….”just a patronizing exercise” unless the congress discusses the ordination of women.
