Stealth candidate
Look what happened while the press wasn’t paying any attention.
The first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey gauging general-election support for Republican Senator Sam Brownback shows him trailing Democratic Senator Hillary Clinton among likely voters by the narrow margin of just five percentage points. It’s Clinton 46% Brownback 41%.
That’s the most significant piece of information in this article. The rest is about the general field of candidates and the public interest in them at this point. That’s what we’re always hearing these days.
But we’re not hearing anything about Brownback. While the media ignore him, Sen. Sam Brownback is strategically reaching out to the grassroots voters and talking to them clearly and directly on bedrock issues important to mainstream Americans. He’s the most solidly pro-life candidate in the running.
And now, he’s only five percentage points behind Sen. Hillary Clinton. This is going to get a lot more interesting. Especially as all the other candidates deal with damage control on the liabilities their opponents will inevitably unearth. They can’t stick anything on Brownback, except the issues he gains most from representing. Maybe that’s why the press is not paying attention…
