Strong words for everyone
Pope Benedict XVI spoke out, strongly, against both the Hezbollah terrorist acts and the Israeli military response in his Sunday Angelus address on July 16. He said:
neither terrorist acts nor reprisals– especially when they have such tragic consequences for the civilian population– can be justified.
The roots of the conflict, the Pope observed, are found in “violations of rights and of justice.” He urged both sides to seek resolutions of those problems through negotiations, adding that “no positive results can be achieved” through the cycle of attacks and reprisals.Â
And he called for prayers for reason, dialogue and peace. CWNews had that report.Â
Nothing short of Divine intervention is going to solve this, so I’m on board. One of the the best requests for this help is the one commonly attritubed to St. Francis of Assisi, and the most accurate rendering of it is here (scroll down). It is the universally beloved Prayer for Peace.
