They should form a group to hold government accountable

The Americans United for Separation of Church and State are worried about a license plate proposal in South Carolina would allow drivers to choose a plate with a cross on it that says “I Believe”. That’s intolerable, they say. So they’re suing.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for South Carolina, asks a judge to stop the state from making the plates and rule that the law allowing them violates the First Amendment.

Which is yet more tortured logic applied to the Constitution by a liberal activist group that wants to expunge any vestiges of Christianity from the public square. Or roadways.

Republican House Speaker Bobby Harrell said residents asked for a way to express their beliefs, and legislators responded.

He disputed Lynn’s accusation that they were pandering to constituents in an election year.

Funny thing is, this is an election year in which religion figures prominently. In both parties.

So if this activist group really wants to have an important social impact on America’s driving citizens, maybe they could turn their attention to lobbying Congress to increase domestic oil production and get a better grip on gas prices, the economy and national security. Now there’s a cause most Americans would unite around.
