Dinner with an NFL star
You have the opportunity, if you’re in the Chicago area next weekend.
The Archdiocese of Chicago Respect Life Office is holding what promises to be a fun and engaging event with its Chastity Education Initiative benefit dinner. The keynote speaker for the dinner will be Chris Godfrey, starting right guard for the Super Bowl XXI champion New York Giants, an outstanding athlete recognized with extra honors by sportswriters. He’s a Notre Dame Law School grad, and the President and Founder of Life Athletes, Inc.
The Chastity Education Initiative is doing great work in the high schools, giving teens a radically alternative message to the cultural pressures about relationships and intimacy and attraction and respect. They have some engaging young people talking with young people, and the results prove how hungry these ‘kids’ are for positive challenges. They respond enthusiastically (and gratefully) to the call to be models of a different sort of fashion…a timeless one that’s more attractive and lasting than anything on display in the teen pop culture.
This is going to be good! Cardinal George will be there, along with some terrific folks I know in the area. Come on out! If you can’t open that link above, go here and click on the link by the football players. The one running with the ball is going to be there, talking about being an athlete for life.
Oh yes, and I’ll be wielding the mic most of the evening. (I love sports, and grew up in Buckeye country. Godfrey helped Michigan get to the Rose Bowl. Hmm…..)
