Hail and Farewell

Whew, it’s over.

French President Nicholas Sarkozy said 2009 was difficult for everybody in the world. “No continent, no country, no sector has been spared,” he said.

In fact, the whole decade was filled with disappointments.

Even the Earth Times noted that Pope Benedict gave thanks for the end of the year (though he does that every year).

“The pontiff’s “Te Deum laudamus” (we praise thee, Lord) evening service is held every New Year’s Eve to express thanks for the year coming to an end.”

So, let’s ‘begin again in 2010’, said the pithy network anchors covering the events.

Yes, and there’s a good reason the Waterford ball drop in Times Square had the theme this year ‘Let There Be Courage.’
