Sorry to say, but it’s a relief…

…that Valentine’s Day is over. Of course, we do our best to keep it within the fun and sweet bounds that we’ve traditionally practiced on the day, even observing that it started as St. Valentine’s Day and honoring that.

But it has devolved over time, into pitches like ‘nothing says I love you like diamonds’ and so on. This year was worse, and though I wouldn’t want to put the crassness we’ve been subjected to into words, I’m glad someone did.

It’s St. Valentine’s Day no longer.

We are in the process of trying the change the culture to respect human dignity and act morally. This is on the list of things to do: try to get civility and tradition back into our civil and traditional holidays.
