Though the president’s ratings are low…

….Congress’ is lower.

The new Democratic-led Congress is drawing the ire of voters upset with its failure to quickly deliver on a promise to end the Iraq war.

This is reflected in polls that show Congress — plagued by partisan bickering mostly about the war — at one of its lowest approval ratings in a decade. Surveys find only about one in four Americans approves of it.

Politicians have not delivered on the promises they made.

In winning control of Congress from President George W. Bush’s Republicans last November, Democrats told voters they would move swiftly to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq.

Now in the majority, they have learned it’s so much tougher to turn campaign talk into action.

House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said some Democrats understand “we can only do so much.”

They could at least try to keep their promise of working with a new spirit of bi-partisanship, couldn’t they? That lasted until the day after they were sworn in.

A Quinnipiac University poll this month found Congress with an approval rating of just 23 percent.

That’s lower than President Bush’s.

“People voted for change. But they don’t think they got it,” said Peter Brown, an assistant director of the poll.

Soooo……. we are in an election season again, or still, and the candidates are all over the place courting your vote. Whether or not they’ve learned from all the mistakes, voters can certainly learn from theirs.
